I have some exciting news to share with you.
After a lengthy process of evaluation and conversation, the Board and Staff of the Pastoral Counseling Centers of Tennessee (PCCT) are happy to announce that in 2016, we will be known as Insight Counseling Centers. The change in our name is in no way an indication of a shift from our mission, values, or goals as an organization. We will continue to do the same great work that we have done for 30 years.
Since 1985, PCCT has provided spiritually informed and psychologically sound psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in the Middle Tennessee area. Through our 30 years, we have provided our services to any person in need through sliding scale fee assistance. The intentionality with which we have tended to the spiritual as well as the mental and emotional lives of our clients is part of what makes us a unique service provider in the area.
The name Pastoral Counseling has been deeply meaningful because it identifies what makes us unique. We have sought to educate people about what true professional Pastoral Counseling is; yet we meet people regularly who are confused by our name. We have reflected on ways to make our name less confusing, yet still infused with meaning, and as we have reflected together, we have found that the name Insight seems to signify our values well.
Insight is both something that comes to us but is also something that is sought. It often comes after a time of crisis while a person is in reflection, but it can break into our lives in unexpected ways. Insight is often equated with wisdom, and our understanding is that wisdom comes from God. Insight can shift our understanding and can lead us to a deeper more meaningful existence. We look forward to our continued work in the community, and as always, we appreciate your prayers and support as we move into a new chapter of our history.
